About

In Spring 2019, I was assigned a 3-point lighting project in my Digital Photography course. My idea was to use color theory to effectively capture an individuals emotions through color.

Programs

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom

Equipment

Canon T6i, Colored gels, 3-point lighting kit, Tripod

This project was featured at Juniata College's Liberal Arts Symposium in Spring 2019.

Artist Statement

My goal was to capture emotion through colors of the rainbow. I understand that different cultures and people have differing views on which colors display which emotion, but I wanted to depict what I thought each color meant to me. Emotion is something that I believe as a concept is very interesting to look at in pictures. Emotion can grab the viewer's attention and keep it if it is displayed correctly. Another goal of mine for this project was to have the viewer contemplate what they believe each color of the rainbow depicts for them. Arranging the photos was intentional because I wanted them to align with the colors of the rainbow. This meant having the lighter colors on the left and the darker colors on the right.
